And just noticed my 1807 has the reverse 180 degrees rotated. This is going to be a real challange. All I can afford are those "go blind" pieces. For me the fum is rising to the attribution challenge. And for your rotated reverse 1807, try S-276. About 80% of them come with the 180 degree rotation. |

Carl, I subscribe to the date set for Large Cents. I have had several dealers tell me that chasing the varieties is very challenging and even more expensive. Doing attributions on worn LC's takes a lot of effort, but it is worth it. As a EAC member I have benefited from other members knowledge, including their books. You might want to look in to EAC membership, you can get nice discounts on the essential research books you'll need for attributing your collection.

All sounds interesting but also sounds like to much for me to really get into at my age, which is really old. Also, due to having well over 100 Albums to constantly upgrade, the entire mess is getting out of control. This latest venture for the Large Cent may be a little on the rough side now. As I mentioned, almost any collection people try for usually have some or many coins that are reasonable in price. However, it appears Large Cents start in prices where other collections leave off. For now I'll just try for a date set and not even wonder about all the possible varieties or types or whatever. I'm sure glad these things don't have Mint Marks too. Edited by just carl
