I just realized I have a duplicate listing....but since there are less than 12 hours left it won't let me end it or edit it even though I canceled all the bids. Argh...so annoying.

I need someone to bid on the duplicate enough that nobody else has a chance of winning it (and then cancel the transaction), as I don't want some newbie ebayer to bid on it last second and then get angry when I tell them its a duplicate (and then leave me bad feedback, ick)

PM me if you can help

Thanks.

Too bad. Don't forget that if you get someone here to bid on it then cancel it, I believe ebay will still charge you the 9% auction fee. If you could actually get a hold of ebay they may cancel it for you.
Rest in Peace

I think you get your fees back if you cancel it, right? Either way the fee (less than $1) isn't too much of a big deal to me, I'm just worried about the prospect of a new ebayer winning it as some of them don't like to be told they can't have 'their coin'.

Yes. You and the buyer can mutually agree not to complete the transaction. Once the buyer clicks that they agree, you get a refund of the final value fee.

Here's the link to the ebay help page in case you need it:

That's great to know. I'm just starting to sell on ebay and everything I had read made it sound like ebay took their cut no matter what. Thanks for the link to the actual policy.

Shadow, just send Jack a PHOTO of the coin, and tell him (Jack, you're not reading this right?) that he was bidding on the photo of the coin, and NOT the coin itself.

I have "ended auctions early" before, but I don't believe that there was less than 12 hours before doing so. There should be something that could be done to stymie the duplicate auction.

Curious, what was the coin in question?

OUCH!

I recently won a bid for a piece of electronic equipment, and the seller refunded my money after finding the item was damaged...

"Dear jackb,We are sorry, but got info from warehouse that unit was dropped and damaged - screen cracked. I refunded your payment in full. - aaaportal"

Want me to pay for the item, and you can refund me?

I was just thinking how ironic it would be if I left you negative feedback...

In this circumstance, there is no need to send payment. When ShadowCreator files a transaction cancellation request, you'll be notified through ebay. All you have to do is click that you agree to cancel the transaction. There will be no negative consequence for either party. It will be as if the transaction never happened.
