Bad picture but most likely a TP9...it doesn't look like a DP9-#3 :)...
Nice find...I've been looking for one for months with no luck so far

It looks like the N9 TP1, it has all the markers for this variety there are a few different types of this variety it could be a $500.00 coin for $50.00 nice find and happy hunting

Ohhh....I hate to be the bearer of bad news...
I bought this for $600 in a private deal. Returned it about 2 weeks ago.
I thought it was a TP9 but examined it under the microscope and it isn't. The obverse die cracks match. The reverse dont.
There is a bit of doubling on the 9 - much less than the picture shows...but no tripling. The reverse die cracks typical for TP9 are also absent..
Sorry...I had no idea he reposted it...I had been looking for a TP9 and was willing to pay $600 for an EF example (it was originally listed at $750) but it turned out not to be.
It is a variety of knob doubling, but the doubling above the loop of the 9 is in the picture only...you'll notice in the picture its on the 8 as well...that fooled me...what really got me though was the matching obverse...I couldn't believe it...

The seller I bought this from has a TP#1 listed for $449.99 which I don't think it is. This one was listed as Die Deterioration.

You didn't quite catch me. I had your coin in hand, and under a microscope 2-3 weeks ago. It was listed before as: ebay: 380240162374http://www.ebay.com/itm/380240162374?ru=http://www.ebay.com:80/sch/i.html%3F_from=R40&_trksid=p5039.m570.l1313&_nkw=380240162374&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1 It had been listed for many, many months...and I finally decided to take a stab at it...his other VF TP9 also doesn't match the markers for either of the TP9s in Charlton. I'm hoping I get lucky at a coin show in the future and find a 1859 TP9, because after 4-5 months of searching on ebay, I have yet to see one.

Well I only paid $49.99 for a VF punch variety which I don't have. Does not seem to be all that bad

Yes...still a good deal. Had I known he was going to repost BIN for $50, I would have kept it or made the deal for it :).

Well I finally got a close look at the piece, I am thinking a DP#3 it's difficult to see with the loop but 60X helps. Interesting piece with the obverse matching the TP#1. I'll have to look into this more.

100% certain its neither DP3 or TP1... The closest I can find is Gravestone A4...that's probably what it is...
I still can't believe it...I paid $600 for it, returned it, it got relisted for $50 and you ended up with it :). I would have paid $50-$100 for it...of course, the seller didn't tell me his intentions about the relisting.
Nice repunched 9...I dont have this particular type...

collector67 I don't understand all the jargon about DP3 or TP1 and all that, but hey, nice coin, considering with all the coins I have, I still don't have one old Canadian penny in my collection (Just getting back into it after 40 years or so). Good for you.
