I have been looking for a forum to find out if my 1881-S MS Morgan has any special attributes that put it into an additional circle of collectibility.

I have never participated in a forum. The subjects and discussions did not address my coin and I am not sure what question to ask about my coin.

Any suggestions?

I have moved your reply into its own topic here in the VAM forum. This is the forum where you would post any Morgan or Peace dollars to get help with varieties.

Please post pictures of the obverse and reverse. Without them, it is impossible to help. Your images should be large and clear. The file needs to be a .jpg or .gif and needs to be under 100k in size. There is a link at the top of the post box with an explanation of how to upload your images.

You should start a new topic for each coin and be sure to use descriptive titles with the date, mint mark, and type of coin.

From what I have seen in the 1881 S Morgans there is only 1 VAM that carries a premium. That's the Vam-54a this one has a break in the die that starts inside the eagle on the reverse and as the die state gets older it runs into the side or denticals of the coin and very late die states the break is even wider between the eagles legs.

you are correct Russ...Before it was known, I passed on one in the AU bin, have been kicking my ARSE ever since...1881-s is a fine year with fabulous strikes but not for serious vamming issues...
