I sold a coin the other day, so I get to buy new coins to replace it, right? That's my rationalization and I'm sticking to it. I have a few Crispus coins, but none are very good on detail. I was intrigued by this coin's appearance, so I had to try to get it at a reasonable cost. So now I am waiting by the mailbox again (or still as the case may be). I believe this to be a RIC VII 32. Wildwinds indicates RIC 32 to be a left facing bust, while coins on acsearch seem to show both left and right facing busts for this same RIC number. So I am a little confused. My coin is: OBV: D N FL IVL CRISPVS NOB CAES Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right REV: PROVIDEN TIAECAESS Jupiter stg. l., chlamys across l. shoulder, leaning on scepter, holding Victory on globe. In field to l., palm branch; in field to r., dot over A; in exergue, SMN 2.92g, 18mm

Attractive coin--very nice details! It appears it saw limited use, if any.

Rather than me telling you what I paid, how about taking a guess. We've done this in the past and I know JangoFett has played a game on another part of this forum about guessing the price. So let's try it here: What price did I pay for this coin?

Ok I saw one that was fully silvered from England for 150 pounds and another similar one for 175 US.
But I know you JW. So that leaves me to figure out just how shrewd you got on this one.... Hmm.
I'll put my guess in a little later if no one gets it pretty soon.
I think that the reverse inscription says something like 'the foresight of the Caesars' but what does the TIAE stand for?
This coin is quite nice, very well centered and I like the way they left the red deposits neatly on the coin.

PROVIDEN TIAE = Providentiae = Foresight of the Caesars
Its one word, just broken up on the legend

Very nice. Def like the red around the letters and details, and how it contrasts well with the black background of the coin. I'd say you paid $35 for it.

I'm just waiting for anyone else who might want to opine on the price. I will be back later this afternoon to give the price.
Nice coin though. Great detail, eh?

As I said in the Apis Bull thread, its time to end the guess game.
I paid a total, including shipping (drum roll please):
$16
Now I have to wait to get it in hand. I'm still waiting on some coins I bought two-three weeks ago. Thanks for playing the game.
