Anyone think that any of the trial strikes that they used as the coin toss at the Doughboy classic football game at Fort Benning will get out of the mint even though all of them is supposed to be melted down since the finish wasn't approved?

so no one is going to be looking for any of these? I us figured since the design was approved only the finish wasn't that some of these may accidentally make it out of the mint

There will probably be one or two given to a high ranking person. Years later, one may find its way to the public.

they are supposed to all be melted down, not even any kept for historical purposes We all know if they minted them, they are likely going to get out some how

I would be totally shocked if one did not surface "in the wild" at some point in the future. I cannot imagine them all being melted. The very idea that they are supposed to be melted, and not even one being kept for historical purposes, is just plain stupid. That, of course, does not surprise me; because we are nation (with no shortage) of idiots.
