no pictures yet. (couldnt wait to post it 100000 times.) so excited if its real.
but.....
the shotgun roll I bought with the 1886 dime and unknown 1909 vdb. at first it looked like a normal 1909 (im at work with no loupe.)

went home over lunch and grabbed my loupe. looked at the 1909 cent and what do I see. a S about crapped my pants tonight I will take pictures. if everyone here thinks its real then I will send it in.

-edit-
on a good note the S is slightly slanted like pictures on
http://www.lincolncentresource.com/1909svdb.html

-edit-
it has mint mark position #1

pictures (they are terrible) some reason I cant take a good loupe pic today. (go figure.) I think it shown up in hand better then in the pictures.

Send her in! Could be, However I honestly am inclined to deny the possibility.

I don't see an S. In my opinion, it's a Philly 1909 VDB.

Not authentic, the biggest clue, besides the MM is the dots between the VDB. They are always strong on the SVDB, I've never seen one with weak dots. I believe what you have is a weak attempt at a fake.

Also mint mark is too faint and placement is not accurate. Here are the genuine ones:

Have to agree with the others, pman, looks like someone made a feeble attempt to carve an 'S' in the coin or post mint damage, sorry, shame would have been a great roll find.

I still don't see an "S". Maybe someone tried to carve an S as SHAFTA9a suggested? Whatever the case, if this were a real S-VDB, the S would be plainly visible, even on a coin with more wear than this one.

Sorry man, I still think it's the Philly version.

I really figured from the beginning that it would be a fake, but I have to keep hope!

How would it be raised? you can tell its not (not really sure how to say this) but indented into the coin.

also my only other problem is if someone was going to fake it
AT LEAST DO A GOOD JOB!

Not sure, but everyone's saying fake. I don't think it's a fake, I just think you're trying to hard to see the S unfortunately.
