After school, I stopped by one of my local coin shops and checked out the $30 Morgan silver dollar basket full of darkened and nasty coins. Then I stumbled upon this beauty, an 1898 Morgan dollar, and I said "I want to buy this coin along with the Euro Philharmonic", he said sure and pulled out his 2005 Red Book, without time to start reading it, I distracted him by requesting that I take a look at some Barber dimes :), they were bad though so I skipped on those. What would this beauty be worth? :D Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help!

Great pickup. Great price. That is a gorgeous Morgan. I am a rookie at grading, but I would think it would grade in the upper MS.

Your pictures don't show much wear or scratched, so I would say retail $50-$55. That may change viewing the coin in person.

Looks like a good strike with few handling marks, but not a candidate for high mint state. I'd assume it's AU-58 unless in-hand it shows strong cartwheel luster over the fields. In these images it looks like light circulation (or, possibly, dipping) has muted the luster.
Probably no distraction was necessary. I expect the dealer put this coin in the bin on purpose and was perfectly willing to let it go for $30. It was a fair price but not a screaming bargain.

Yea, it has the cartwheel feature and has an enormous amount of original luster, I can even see the color of my face reflecting off it lol!

those must be scans then, if they are scans and that is what is making the coin look flat and over dipped then it could be MS condition

Looks nice and worth the $30.

Based on these pictures/scans, have to say AU-58. I'll offer another opinion if we get some pictures that show luster.
At AU-58, would put this one at about a $40 coin perhaps a bit higher if she looks really nice in hand.

I'll agree with Bryan - either dipped or the pics don't show the coin well.
