I've never dealt with them one on one, but I thought they were known for cleaned/damaged coins and photography that hid these characteristics, atleast from what I've heard. I would avoid this coin, if this is in fact the case.

My humble opinion ... avoid all coins from this on-line dealer unless certified by a top TPG. I have been 'burned' by them in my learning years ... David

The two coins I have purchased from them have been exactly what I thought I was purchasing. They were exactly as pictured and described. So IME they are fine.
That aside, I would say 25 max on that coin.

I would be leary with GSC in general, not because they aren't reputable, but their coins always seem to fetch a premium and a lot of them have obviously been doctored. In this case it is evident that this 1915 S would not slab problem free. It went for XF money and it looks VF Details at best.
I also think their descriptions can be a bit misleading. Grading is subjective and if you are the seller obviously it is in your best interest to overstate your opinion.
They do a heck of a business though, and you have to give them props for that.

Don't buy from Great Southern Coins they are known to use trick photography. Buyers are often extremely disappointed with the quality of the coin in hand v/ as photographed.

From the pic I'm looking at, the obverse would be a 40. I think there's a little too much wear in the hair and ear, but I can see where they could call it a 45. It's most definately not a 35. The reverse is a solid 45.
All that said, (and I don't know anything about gsf) something about that picture makes alarm bells sound for me. I can't really put my finger on it. At first glance it looks like a chocolate brown, but the more I look at it the more I think the blue intensity has been increased. They've also lit the coin from almost a source almost parallel to the coin (look at how the shadows are laying). I know when I've done this it has the tendancy to cause nicks to look less severe and tends to make ef and higher coins appear to have more luster than they actually do.
I don't know for a fact but I suspect when the winning bidder gets this coin in hand they're going to see a coin with more pronounced circulation marks and less luster than they were planning on (at least on the obverse). I think the reverse actually looks pretty good (they changed the light source... more perpendicular to the coin).
edit: I forgot to assign a value. If I picked this one up for $25 I'd be ecstatic. If I picked it up for $45 I'd be let down. So somewhere in the middle of those two points is probably my "fair" price.

I know GSC very well! The thing I love about them the most! Free shipping. Even more so, Return policy is excellent! No questions asked! Nothing. And they reimburse the cost of return shipping, when they refund your money. So its risk free. And you get your money back when they receive the coin. Unless its a holiday or something. They only ask, No alterations be made to the coin, and to please handle it with care. With that said, You do have to look closely at the pictures, Really look where the shadows cast, Look at the surfaces of the coin! Don't be fooled bye the color, or well placed glares, Off foucus! Cause I've received probably 3 out of 20 that were either photo shopped. Or trick photography was used. What ever they do, its well done, Cause on each one(Of 3). When I checked the listing again, sure enough I could make out the problems, Only because I knew where to look from having the coin in hand. Just look over what ever you buy with a fine tooth comb.lol Which I'm sure you do anyway. Good luck, let us know if you take the plunge. and how you made out. I'd like to make note, I haven't purchased anything from them in around 6 - 8 months. Nothing to do with quality or anything like that, Just the US Mint seems to be getting all my money these days.
