My dad found this coin a few years back with his metal detector and thought it was interesting. Anyone have any ideas? It's not in the best shape, but not bad either.

Both the front and the back have extra metal around the rim and the edges are concave all the way around. I've attached a picture of the obv and rev. Any help?

I wonder if it was squeezed into something to make jewelry or a key-chain charm or something.

Wait for the experts....they've seen it all and will probably recognize what it is right away.

It was in one of those penny holder things, they have like a company's name on it or something. I found one with the plastic still on it metal detecting and I broke the plastic off cause it was so corroded.

This is an encasement coin. 1918 would be a tourist relic: Niagara Falls, Coney island, Atlantic City, ect..
