Why are PCGS PF/MS 70 sets selling for about $500 higher on average than NGC sets of equal grading?

PCGS has a reputation for stricter grading than other TPGs,
therefore, popular belief is that an MS70 from PCGS is better than
an MS70 (or whatever grade) from another grading service. If this
is in fact true or not is definately debateable.

NGC offers up 70 grades a bit easier than PCGS. It use to be very difficult to get a "70" from PCGS but that has changed somewhat in recent years.

If I were submitting mine, they'd go to NGC. You have better odds at getting a full set of 70s.

P.S. The price difference on some pieces (NGC 70 vs. PCGS 70) from the 1970's and 1980's is 200% or more!

A primary example was posted on this forum. Can't remember who or which topic , but a member sent 2 sets to NGC got back (9) 70 grades

I sent 3 sets to PCGS got back (5) 70 grades

If you look at the PCGS POP reports just updated today they show MANY more 70's vs. 69's with this set...some show two times more 70's than 69's

the W's had 765 70's vs. 368 all other grades

EDIT: I mis-read the report. It's the bottom line of each series below for these sets. There is a good percentage of 70s thus far.

i would give odds the guy who claimed he sent in those 2 sets and got all but 1 come back ms 70 IMHO
is telling a fib.
I would like to see picks of 9 perfect coins

that post is just to get you kids all riled up.

He is feeding off your posts from the last month just itching to get your sets from the mint,
then you cant decide to open them or grade them ... then finally most cant wait and try and "cherry pick" with no knowledge of what your looking at...
and then complain that all the 2 key coins have flaws ....

you kids took the bait hook and sinker

You're going to need to tone down the rhetoric, johnnybro123, if your plan is to stick around here for more than a few days.

Which means nothing unless the same sets were sent to both companies.
