I've always been scared to handle proof coinage too much after I put a visible scuff on a 1981-S Susan B. Anthony putting it into a Whitman plastic holder (the type with the foam paper insert).

That being said, I have some particularly nice modern proofs that I'd like to have graded and I'm concerned that putting them into a 2" x 2" like they require will scuff them.

How should I handle these proofs? If there is a product you recommend can you link to it so I can try it out?

Thanks

Use the original mint capsules if available. PCGS will likely accept secondary market capsules as well.

How are they packaged presently?

I use the SAFLIP double pocket flips with no PVC, with dimensions 2 1/2 X 2 1/2. Do it over a table with some soft material in case you drop the coin. Use a fresh flip that has not been folded yet. Due to the larger size of the flip I am able to take my middle finger an pull up the middle part of the flip while holding down both edges of the flip with my other two fingers of the same hand. Then just slide the coin in and then fold the flip when your done. It's really quick and easy and you will not risk scratching of scuffing the coin doing it this way. Best that you practice with a quarter first so that you get the hang of it. Good Luck.
