Very nice, the older the coin the more excited I get, I know some aren't worth anything and some are but if they could tell you there story. I think that's why when I look at my Nazi coins I'm in awe, what did that little coin see and hear in its time . I'm a dork like that. ;).

To be honest - these coins are still "modern".

Try ancient Greek or Roman - authentic coins can be obtained for very little - comparatively speaking.

I did collect ancients - still do occasionally - but I find myself more drawn to medieval coins recently.

Lots and lots of "history" to be obtained :)

I collect thalers, at least I have a few. My oldest dates from 1569. I have a couple of 1600s, 1700s and 1800s too. I do not stop at thalers, though. I like any big old silver coins, like Dutch daalders, Italian 5 lires, French 5 francs, Spanish 5 pesetas etc. And especially Norwegian and other Nordic dalers.

I have only 1 Thaler, too bad it's a restrike. My dad has an 1861 Thaler with Wilhelm I and Augusta, like the one on Bacchus2's Frankfurt-on-the-main project on page 4.

probably you mean something like that.German thalers and silver coins from Reich era are one of the most fascinating sections in numismatics.I am into that for about 2 years now.
