Wheaties are getting few and far between especially pr 1940 ones.
This one has an interesting N. What say you error or just plain broke

it actually looks like a combination of things , but the end result is the same ,, Post mint damage . of course this is my opinion and subject to scrutiny and ridicule

I believe it's post-mint damage - probably from a change counter. I have seen portions of dates wiped clean off from these machines.

I do not have the coin in hand however it looks like a die chip irregular blobs of metal at recessed areas of the design low points.Most often found in date area or letters.
