I ran across this listing giving a UNC detail. When did PCGS start this and will they detail grade a cleaned coin now?

I think they started doing it a month or two ago.

Yes it's recent, due to the 1000's of complaints that for the high cost to grade a coin too many came back in a "body bag" with no real explanation as to why. I sent in 10 dollars all cracked out of PCGS holders 8 of them were bagged - no grade. I pretty much quit using them after that episode, and now use ANACS for self-submissions. I'll still buy a coin in any TPG's holder as I buy the coin not the holder.

They under grade in my opinion. I've seen so many nice coins graded at 63 or 64. It's crazy. And what is a 61 or 62? What's that all about?

they started giving detail grading in Paris , during grading session in Oktober. Me fellow PCGS dealer over here said to me that their score in details grading versus numerical is 50-50.

I've seen some PCGS coins certifies as "genuine" so I guess so. Personally I have no problems with cleaned or damaged coins being certified as long as they are labeled properly. I collect British hammered coins from the 1300's- 1650's. Believe me, most coins have been cleaned somewhere along the line. I still want them authenticated. I use NGC though.
