I mean you, not me. Here's your coin:

Let's-Attribute-A-1921,-Shall-We?-}:

Let's-Attribute-A-1921,-Shall-We?-}:

Let's see if we can wander the path of attribution with this one. Honestly, I haven't attributed it yet; I see no "smoking gun" attributes.

I'd like you guys to point me - offer suggestions as to what we need to look at next. Those of you with greater experience, please explain why you want me to check what you're asking, so as to enlighten the readers. I can provide clear images at whatever magnification you wish.

I'll kick this off with Step One for attributing a 1921 - which reverse? This is a D2 reverse, characterized by the lack of 17th berry and thicker branch in the eagle's talons:

Let's-Attribute-A-1921,-Shall-We?-}:

So where do I go next?

Wish I could help. I know so little about this subject. And to think I sell 100's of Morgan's each year. Lol. I really should learn more about attribution. I hope more responces come so I can be more enlightened.

1921's along with the Peace series is one area I have not tackled yet, too many of them they make my head spin! I thought 1878's were tough until I got to the 1879-S I Can't even begin on this one, but cool coin a lot of stuff going on, tons of die cracks and cool doubling on the Obv stars.

OK. We've got doubling of the right stars, looks like even tripling:

Something going on with the date, too:

On the D1 and D2 reverse coins the best tell tale is the eagles talons The D1 center claw runs over the olive branch and into the feather. Where as on the D2 the center talon stays on the branch.

Nope.

Let's-Attribute-A-1921,-Shall-We?-}:

As Russ mentions, the "16/17 berry" thing is tough; sometimes that 17th berry is almost invisible. Far better to use the talons/branch, as that's an easily-seen difference. Here's the D1 version - compare it to the image I posted above:

Let's-Attribute-A-1921,-Shall-We?-}:

Edit: I clarified my original post regarding the berry - saw I worded it deceptively.

Can we see a good shot of the field in front of the neck line and hair V for clashing, and is that date doubling?

Any dots?

I've got to rely on your photos. I'm trying to rule our 3AW1

I'll remove clashing from consideration based on personal observation, southsav, which is OK because clashing should not be a smoking-gun attribute for any variety.

For the rest, I guess it's time to get out the microscope. It'll probably be tomorrow evening before the next details.
Rest in Peace

OK, I've been up and down the D2 varieties on the VAM website and I am stumped. There must be way more varieties than there were dies. This has got to be one of the toughest date/mint marks to attribute. Is there any way to sort out the BS varieties?

I'm probably wrong, but letters look off to me.
