Stopped by my local dealer today looking for some
merc. dime fillers and picked up a 64 proof set in a capitol
holder. Got the set for sheet. :)
My best AH to date. Nice cameo. Went over it @10X and have to say the rev. has to go PF-68 easy. Obv. 67/68
My pics. are lousy as usual but wanted to share.
The glare on it was killing me and the camera lense.
The other coins in the set are all awesome also by the way.
67/68's. Gotta look at it a little closer to decide if a possible deep on the cameo as well as a solid grade and if
i want to send it out or not. Never know ?

That's pretty shiny! I have been trying and trying to get photos and the glare is a huge problem.

It looks like you got a really nice coin. And the pictures are pretty good -- better than mine (sigh).

Just wanted to add some pics. of the 4 main attributes
for the accented hair type proof (FS-401)
In case some members were not familiar with it.
All 4 of these attributes have to be present.
Obv.: The hair, Broken serif (left lower) on the "I" in Liberty
Rev.: Straight G on the FG initials, broken stars/rays (lines)
These pics. were from one of my other coins.

It's possible that your coin could have the same type of reverse
and also the broken serif on the obverse but it cannot have the
accented hair. The AH was only on earlier 1964 proofs. Jackie Kennedy
did not like the look of her husbands hair on the new proof when it cam e out so the mint redesigned the die.

Harvey

I still have those two 1960 and 1961 choice Unc. quarters.
Still a head scratcher on those two coins. I have shown them to many
dealers and without mentioning the type B rev. they still concur that they are not proofs.

Hey Indian1, I have a 1959 & 1963 Rev B that the obverse is definietly prooflike. Some other collector of Rev B's asked me if I had any prooflike Rev B's and at first I said NO but after looking at my pieces again, found 2.

One is a 1959 NGC MS66 and the other is a 1963 PCGS MS65

Yours may very well be prooflike Rev B's....

Regards,

Harvey
