I'm not really all that familiar with this series. I know it's a low mintage coin with the no arrows. Need some grading advice and an approximate value. Roughly what a dealer would give versus market value. I am considering purchasing this coin but don't have to have it. I appreciate all your help and advice.

Look at those hairlines! I wouldn't bother with this one.

Just FYI anything that shows up as hairlines on this picture is the camera. I put this under a 30x loupe and there is no appearance of hairlines on the coin.

The first part is true, but you're drawing the wrong conclusion from it. Yes, the camera is showing hairlines. Not a lot - not enough for me to call it "brushed" - but be aware that a camera will see real hairlines when your eyes can't. To the human eye, hairlines can often be seen only at one lighting angle, especially indoors. Magnification sometimes hurts more than it helps. I see a level of detail in this coin of about F15-VF20. I'll leave it to you to determine surface originality, but consider that the first three posters in your thread (including a dealer with 40 years' experience) have doubts.

Good point....I need to get it back under a loupe and perhaps take some more pictures of the coin. I guess if I got this coin for around 65-75 I wouldn't get hurt too bad.....numismedia has it at $70 in G-4. The coin is darker in hand.

I don't think that would be a bad price, and I'm not certain the lines I see are anything but incidental. The only reliable way to see real hairlining with the naked eye is in direct sunlight or maybe very bright halogen light, and if under a loupe a fairly small one like 5x.

I don't know, it does look like it has some hairlines over liberty, but this can sometimes just mean it was slid across something, not cleaned. The surfaces look okay in the photo. This is a very rare coin, I believe it is worth upwards of $400 but I could be wrong.

hmmm...I must be losing my vision, I don't see a cleaned coin at all. I see a few light hairlines, but they look scattered as you would expect from a circulated coin. Many SL coins have been cleaned at some point, so it's possible it had an old light cleaning and toned over, but it looks slabbable to me. I'd like it as a nice F-12 personally.

This IS a rare one... My 2012 RedBook lists this coin at VF20 at $250.

This coin is actually my Dad's and he has no interest in it. He's more interested in Morgans and Silver bullion. I am considering this for my key/semi key type set. I want a good deal but I don't want to take him either. Any thoughts what would be fair?
