I have read several issues on here about PCGS and NGC!Question is a lot of people seem to have a bigger problem with ANACS and ICG so what's the answer for graded coins?

I have NGC, PCGS and ANACS slabs, and I prefer them in that order. I really like ANACS as far as not having to pay to have my coins graded & slabbed, although I am not very fond of their slab design. I really NGC's "edge view" slabs (with the four fingers to hold the coin).

I do not have any ICG slabs, but you should make your determination on the coin itself. I may have been overlooking some possibilities by not using the them in my searches.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record, but the answer is to buy the coin, not the slab. All four make mistakes.

As far as submitting goes? Well, IME they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I wouldn't give a recent-date Modern to anyone except PCGS (although I wouldn't have a Modern to submit, anyways ). I wouldn't send a Morgan to anyone but ANACS if attribution was a consideration. It's my opinion that NGC is the most "variable" of them all - they're either spot-on or way off.

If I were slabbing to flip the coin, PCGS hands-down.

I agree with all 4 having problems, being the topic is very subjective, but do not believe like I use to, that in the top 3 that ANACS is the last choice, IMO the company is/has come a long way to improve the quality of the given grades and can NOT say the same for the "top dog" being I see and hear about far too many problem coins from most who go the route, I know the human factor comes into play in ALL the TPG'S and believe that pcgs is NOT all that anymore, I see them as a company resting on their laurels from days gone by and would select NGC and ANACS, not in any specific order, to be more consistant in their service.

I really do not see the reason, while I do see the slabs from the pcgs company selling for more money, which still is unbelieveable, why people keep sending their money to the most expensive of all TPG'S as far as paying to be a member and their grading costs per coin, and IMO, they are not on top of the game anymore? I would appreciate any comments on the topic, Mike......

I would agree with morgans dad. But first I believe that you need to educate yourself on grading in general. Each of the top TPG's has their pros and cons. But everyone knows what THEY themselves like in a coin, ie strike, luster, toning etc. I am sorry, but what third party may seem as "eye appeal" may not be for another. I think that a newby in the hobby is going to buy the holder thinking of profit or better premium. I know I did. However as I matured in the hobby I have developed what I like. As I look back at slabbed coins I purchased years ago, I realize that I now disagree with a grade or now don't find that coin appealing. As I have stated in previous posts, I now primarily use ICG which most people on this forum would rate 4th of the top 4 TPG's. I have found them to be the most consistent with what I like to collect. I have actually let my NGC and PCGS memberships expire. I have spoken to graders at major shows and brought up issues that you brought up etc. One grader stated that PCGS or NGC are sometimes grading better than 5000 coins daily and even though they have gone through 3 graders the technician in the slab room mislabels the wrong coin etc.
