You might want to see if you can get it 3rd party graded with a special "Hit the floor" error designation. :)

That's horrible QC. Back it goes.

I tend to believe that QC does not exist at the mint any longer. Just clones jamming pucks into packages as fast as they can.

I'd say that's more evidence to prove that there literally is no QC.

It's a pretty good dent, I bet there is a procedure and paperwork involved if an employee damages a coin. It's easier to just brush it off and put it in the capsule I guess.
I don't know this for sure, just my guess. Waiting on a return label.

Quote: These are the latest bullion sales figures: Effigy Mounds National Monument 21,200 Frederick Douglass National Historic Site 19,600 Here's where they stand now: Effigy Mounds National Monument 21,500 Frederick Douglass National Historic Site 20,000 This figures seem really low versus others in the series. Is Frederick Douglass done? I bought a monster box of the Effigy Mounds National Monument as a bullion/numismatic play long term investment. It's hard to believe that I have 1 of 215 monster boxes that were produced. If the mint makes $2/oz, then their gross profit was only $43,000 (215x100x2). Subtract from that the cost of the monster box, dies, labor, overhead, etc. and I'd bet that the mint is losing money on these.

Interestingly, the price of the Frederick Douglass bullion puck has shot up about $10 above the Effigy Mounds over the past few days.

Any speculation on why the price difference between the 2 pucks? Is the Doug puck done?

^ No, just temporary shortage imho. We're not even halfway through the year yet and the mint will keep on minting based on what the APs want... Right now, dealers raise prices based on demand. They will get cheaper again eventually. If you're looking for a few older ones (Saratoga, Bombay Hook, Olympic), SGB has a few on offer - remember that the discount will come off once the items have been put into the basket; i.e. the price you see is not what you pay: https://silvergoldbull.com/deal-zon...MO=deals-nav

To give an update on my COA issue: I returned the three coins with the wrong COA. They were received by the US Mint on May10. As I didn't hear from them for a week I called and was told that they will issue a refund, even though I was dead certain that I checked the box for replacement items; i.e. they will send me three new coins. OK, I thought - just place another order which I did on May18. I received the three coins on May23, but still no refund... Today (May25) I get an email with an order confirmation for the replacement of my original order. I called and was told they can't cancel the order anymore. But the customer service rep said she will send me a return shipping label. Such as a waste of time & of our tax dollars and only because they are incapable of putting three pieces of paper in the mail... Quite sad if you think about it. It also makes you wonder why it took them more than two weeks from receiving returned items to send replacements. I can imagine they have a huge backlog of returns to process.?

Keep the best three and return the others. Just don't drive yourself nuts trying to figure out the Mint.
