Check out this coin. I just got it off ebay. Great shape but the toning looks awful fake to me. The seller has several toned coins for sale and has a few hundred positive feedbacks from selling coins. Could this be natural ? I don't know enough to tell....What do you think ?

Always buy coins with a return policy on ebay.

A good way to tell if a ebay seller is selling AT coins;

All of his auctions will have the same AT color coins.

Learn for this and you will be fine.

I will be glad to look at any Walker auction for you just e-mail me beforehand.

I'm no expert on toning so I can't comment on yours but I had a similar question...

this toning looks natural but my question is would these be worth any more than melt value?

Sorry, the toning on at least the 2 top coins in the second image are most likely artificial and are worth melt. I say that because of that funky blue color again, that looks like it was poured on the coin. Color shouild not 'float' like that. The third coin is hard to tell from the images, but that type of toning would command no premium anyways. Again, melt.

Kerry67, is it possible to return that coin? If you just got it off the bay, I would send her back and keep a lookin'. That type of toning actually detracts from a coins worth......it is now essentially worth melt. If you are gonna dabble in a little color, I would recommend sticking with pcgs, ngc or anacs coins while you get a feel for whats real.

Sorry, but it is AT.
Look at the wear, and the AT was probably used to hide polishing.
