Sure does look like one in hand. The fields still show a bit of mirror.

Also, I noticed the die-chip in the left wheat. It looks a lot like the die-chip on the 1953 that I just posted in the error section of the forum.

Here's the link.

I think yes, it is a proof. It has that proof weightiness to the strike. Don't know how it ended up in the wild, maybe it wasn't that great a piece- or perhaps someone was trying to chop up some silver.

I don't have any proof wheats to look at for comparison, but first thing that comes to mind is that it was buffed or something like that. Not sure what the proofs actually look like.

Doesn't have the flat squared rims of a proof.Looks like it was plated or coated with something.

Looks plated to me, would a proof have a die chip like that?

Definitely not a proof coin, it is a gold-plated cent.

I'm going with plated as well. Why would any one wanna plate a LWC anyway?

Don't know if it is plated, looks like it could be, but it definitely isn't a proof. Not sharp enough, rounded rims, even with some circulation and mishandling a proof wouldn't look like that.
