hi All
I have been having trouble with pics for awhile now. Cannot afford a macro lens just yet. I do have a decent camera (cannon 15.1 MP) with a closeup adaptor on the lens a tripod and hand held shutter release, but I get alot of blurr, any suggestions on this. I'm trying to get good shots of DDO's/RPM's and to date can only get them through my scope which zooms in too far to get more than one letter/number. Here is an example of the best pics I get from my camera and scope. As you can see I cannot get close enough to see any real detail with the camera and when I crop and zoom in there is too much blur. any and all suggestions would be great!

I didn't think they looked all that bad, but there are other options you might try.

I suspect your problem *may* be with the "close up adapter" you're using. If we're talking about a simple extension tube, they can be a blessing or a curse, depending on lots of factors.

Canon optics are, as a general rule, very good, especially when paired with compatible Canon cameras that allow lens and image processor to work together.

Once you insert the extension tube between the camera and lens, you might be losing some focus capabilities....just enough to make it frustrating for the photographer. My image stabilized Canon lenses don't know how to act when I put a Canon extension tube on them......focusing becomes a bit more challenging.

I use two macro lenses exclusively - a Canon 50mm and a Tamron 90mm macro to fit the Canon. Both give stunning results with plenty of detail. I suggest you look for a good used one and give it a try - you'll be surprised at just how good they are.

I'm not sure, but since you haven't mentioned it yet, your not using,,,,,the computer, LIVE shoot feature available to you....In such a case, one should always be in the manual mode in general, so you have total control of all features,
So in general I won't name them all, as many threads already do this, how ever when using live view you can simply click on the zoom box, view the coin at 200% adjust focus and done....exit zoom and shoot the shot...if the over all finished Shot or lighting isn't correct just adjust shutter speed..one form of adjustment...
What close up adapter are you using, or is it a 2X teleconverter? your colors are quite off, not due to the adapter, but general settings,,,,
