Even the central banks are buying gold, 150 tons 3rd quarter. The WGC tracks it .. as best they can of course. Apparently gold purchases is like 8.5% of india GDP!

Gold ownership in the US is not that widespread. I know dozens and dozens of people and not one of them collects gold. A few collect silver. It just does not have the cultural attraction here that it does in India. They have an old culture with a very long history. No doubt there are the bones of failed fiat currencies scattered along their history trail. People tend to remember cataclysmic financial events in their lives and to take steps to ensure that such things do not recur.

We've just been better at keeping our currency from going boom. Every time things go bad, specie (PM) becomes king again.

Iono about being better at keeping our currency from going boom. The US has only been a completely fiat currency sense the 70s. 40 years is not deserving of a pat on the back for not having a currency go into complete shambles lol. Especially when its looking like the run is going to end before we hit 50 years and almost certainly before 60 years.

Yep, so far, anyway. On the other hand, we seem to be working on a pretty decent boom.

Not forgetting them, Fredd, just not old enough that I had to deal with most of them personally.
