I have decided my owning gold, is not just not enough upside with the prices and all. I mean if I had 15 oz., then I could feel safe to set an wait till 2500 or beyond then cash in. But it is not realistic, as bills FORCES me to liquidate unfortunately at times, and short positions on things are not so bad, as you can't make any money when PM's are just sitting....

So I have liquidated 2 oz. via roughly one quarter oz. of gold to a great fellow in the next state up, via Kentucky wildcat country, in that great set I put together of the worlds smallest Liberia gold coins, 3/4 gram each, so 7.3 grams, nearly a quarter oz....

I then sold TBK (Throw Back Kid) roughly three quarters of an oz. of gold), and he is a fantastic guy, definitely a trust worthy fair and easy to deal with, what more can you ask for, quick paying never hurts, lol....

So, that left me about an oz. of gold roughly 29 grams an some change. As I needed to square up some bills, get some gifts, oh and of course I grabbed a couple of unbelievable Lionel train sets. I love Lionel pure Americana, as trusted as gold an silver, what a following of collectors....

You guys will love this amazing Lionel set I grabbed, brand new, QVC special only 500 released, very rare, and it is a GOLD MINE train, I kid you not. It has a gondola, with a miner chasing a bandit with a bag of gold, and it has a car with gold bars, and a car with gold ore, very neat I thought and I had to have it since I love trains and gold both, lol....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/25094247985....m1439.l2649

Next, I grabbed two five oz. Morgan bars on ebay at 180 each shipping, not bad for ebay I thought. Your guys opinion much welcome on that, and my first silver buy in six months easy. I was counting my ebay bucks before they hit the table, and that was a mistake, as I forgot about the no ebay bucks on bullion. I think Kenny said.... Never count your ebay bucks, when your sitting at the table, they will be time enough to count your ebay bucks, when the dealin is done, lol....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/11079061902....m1439.l2649

Lastly, I said you know what is one STINKIN oz. of gold going into new year really has little upside for me, as even if gold hit 5000 tom, sure I would have made a few thousand, but I really need to get back on the ED plan, and just do like him an buy like all get out when the prices are low....

So, I work out a great trade for my last 29 grams for 50 oz of silver with another great board member, who in fact I sold 50 oz. of silver to back about six months ago. I got up to 76 oz. and got this crazy notion to go gold, bad move perhaps, as I could have close to 150 oz. of silver by now, and may had to sell 50 or so, but still would be around 150. I am not saying I don't love and believe in gold, but the fact is, I did not get in at 250 an oz. back in early 2000....

I don't wanna mention the other board member as I have not asked them if they mind, and they can of course chim in here if they so chose of course. I mentioned TBK, as he had said something already, and of course I did not mind at all, much appreciated the kind words....

I feel GREAT about silver for one main fact.....When I got in it in mid January last year, silver was 26 an oz., and if no major pullbacks which stay down for a time occur in the next month or so, silver will INDEED GAINED 6 BUCKS on last year, with all the crazy economy, Europe, the whole mess, the stock market doing all it can to pull it and gold down, yet they still hold strong. Very simply, I CAN afford to buy silver as I demonstrated last year, getting to 76 oz. in about 6 months. So this time I am going in a year wiser, and 60 oz in to start a new year, and maybe more as there is still 3 weeks to go yet....

Sorry for the rant, just wanted to share a crazy one year ride from silver, to gold, and back to silver yet again, so as to reclaim my name, as the Silverhawk, Studebaker of silver collecting, perhaps a bit beat up and rusty in serious need of a good RESTORATION , but still going strong....

The pleasure was all mine my friend. Silver is just so much easier to stack then gold, even a tube of gold tenths would cost you north of $9k. I am just trying to figure out which way I want my collection to go. Oh and I'm sorry I should have asked you before I mentioned our dealings that wasn't cool now that I think about it.

I'm the "other board member" :) don't mind the mention at all and thank for the heads up first.

In fact, kinda curious what everybody thinks about the trade (a sinking feeling that the lot of us here are pro silver over gold at the moment though). The trade was from close to .95oz of gold for 50.15oz of silver like silverhawk said (can't call you goldhawk anymore!). Both Au and Ag were originally purchased with considerable premiums as they are not "standard" bullion items.

Not often nowadays are we able to made a trade on trust and a man's words alone. Silverhawk's only the second such person I've had such pleasure to trade with.

No it was not a big deal at all TBK, as I enjoy sharing my transactions, and are completely open to discussing with members here on this board and would never had given it any thought. Always interesting to hear others opinions, as I am always open to learn. It is the people around me in everyday life, that I am more concerned with knowing my how much G or S I have for example or whatever....

Of course we have covered how even your friends knowing your bus and accidentally mentioning it to the wrong person for example could end up with a gun at your loved ones head, via a thief trying to rob your stash or whatever, a topic for the ol safe threads, lol....

In the end, even if it is gold, silver, copper, platinum or palladium you believe in at the time, it has to safer bet then the dying US dollar....

Yes Pobox is a real gem to deal with as well, and he has an eye for some great gold and silver, and I would highly recommend visiting his store, as he has some great current running auctions I am adding to my list, via Wolf an grizzly and plan to get other higher cost items when cash allows. He being an ol Canuck, as a great angle on the nice Canadian Pm's as well as other great rare unique pieces from many parts of the world.....

I like pieces from many different parts, via America, Mexico, Canada, Britain, I really want some Phil Harmonics, they go real close to spot at Provident for example....

Anything is better than the dollar unless you are speculating in the price of paper or the price of electrons.

I will say the last twelve years speaks high for gold, we will see if it can continue past 2 grand this year, and I will be its number one fan pulling for it too for all you have a good position in gold, and for the fact that silver will have to follow, and maybe even close that 54 to 1 ratio.....

I first got scared of the volatility of silver, but now I see it is just a good thing, as it opens back up buying windows, and when many feel that way an buy, it goes back up again....

In all honesty, if it had steamed rolled up to 100 an oz. by now with little to zero pullbacks, how many of us would be buying big amounts of silver....

Again, I expect perhaps a slight short pullback before the New year, and then I expect silver to gain 4 to 5 bucks a month from Jan to May, and gold about 15 to 25 bucks a month, and it is a new year with new problems, so we may not even see that pullback this year in late May, time will tell I guess as always....

or plastic :)

The Canadians are making the switch to plastic bills, the hundreds are out already. A lot of sucker hunters on ebay selling them right now.

I'm a bit embarrassed by my own ebay listings actually, as I know the majority are way over priced. Before forum members attack, in my own defense the vast majority of my listings have a "make an offer" option, ebay and paypal fees are ridiculously high, and I would not mind a bit of sucker hunting myself :p. The alternative being not having anything sell - which isn't all bad to a collector either.

Wow plastic money, I think that is way cool and the obvious way of the future, and I expect the USA and others to eventually follow suit, if it turns out to be practical....

That seller there needs to add some info on what it is, and what it is made of, but I suppose they figure if someone is looking at it, they know what it is....

And 100 dollar face, and he wants 129 lol. Can't one go to the bank an exchange paper currency for one of those bad boys?

apparently the pool of buyers are non-Canadians that have a hard time getting these new notes period, since they only came out in November. Really odd... from a collectors/numismatic point of view people should be buying the old paper notes that will be out of circulation relatively soon instead.

The new notes are made out of a plastic polymer that is suppose to be next to impossible to forge (for now), last 70x as long, cannot be ripped, and will not shrink when tossed into the dryer (but reports are that they do "deflate" slightly).

Makes sense, people in Canada can easily get them, but I down here can't so most will pay an extra 30 bucks to get something like that in their collection, if they so desired. Makes sense to me and you would clear about a twenty spot after shipping an fees each sale if their is indeed a good market, just needs more info....

youd actually get more, you guys forget hes charging 130 USD and you are getting 100 CAD which is worth 98 USD.

So another way to look at this "incredible deal" is you pay him 130 USD he holds on to it for 6-8 weeks, then he sends you $98.20 in return LOL.

Better to be overpriced and come down than to be underpriced and be stuck with the price.

Deflate as in shrink when you pinprick them to let the air out?

And they do deflate a bit since I think the CD is less than one USD.

It was an intended pun :)
i just love the idea that the bills can shrink. The bill of the future for me would change in size according to value.
