I am new to coins of the UK, and I was looking at pictures of 1863 Half Pennies, to see if my specimen may differ...I found a RB MS63 to look at, and, noticed what I suppose is a "normal" obverse..my coin has 1 dot after D : G . instead of what I assume is a normal 2 dots.
The MS63 has 2...what, if anything, does this pertain to? A die mistake, like struck-through issue? Also, I noticed minor Doubling on H, in HALF, and, both N N, in PENNY, is there a listed Doubled Die for this coin please? First pic is my specimen, with 1 dot...2nd is the online pic, with 2 dots
Thanks
Calvin

I'm drooling all over because of that '63. Too bad for the scratches on her neck.

I found out on the predecimal forumthat missing colon's are not uncommon, due to basically a die issue, like grease...the "fishtail" notching I saw is also not uncommon...I was told to keep my eyes peeled for extra letters or numbers, so, overdates, and such...I'm learning...it's slow...
