1948 high relief is the one to look for on the quarter and the nickel.

Is there also a high relief 1951 nickle?
If how can you tell it apart from the 'low' relief?

Low Relief has a slightly larger, lower relief portrait on the obverse ...
NOTE => aside from the size of the portrait, the two varieties have slightly different lettering.

Ummm, I've never heard about the 1948 High & Low relief coins? ... but 1951 & 1952 for sure:

1951 High Relief Quarter = $10 VF
1951 Low Relief Quarter = $250 VF (winner "quarter")
1952 High Relief Quarter = $10 VF
1952 Low Relief Quarter = $10 VF

1951 High Relief Nickel = $850 VF (winner "nickel")
1951 Low Relief Nickel = face value (5 cents)

THE EASIEST WAY TO DETERMINE A 1951 5 cents steel HI RELIEF is as follows. Get a nickel 1951 commem and compare the portraits. If they are the same "Lucky winner, chicken dinner!"

I actually searched my rolls of 51's last year, some nice coins but no dinner.

One thing about the forum is that it prompts me to go back and check rolls I haven't even taken out of the boxes in decades. It's sort of like a nagging wife in action.

So no 50's? all I could find about these were the "A" in "gratia" so assuming the placement on 50's is normal. this is what brought it to my attention. Any sites for Canadian coins would be great as well, I have several more to look through from pennies to Quarters.

1950's? ... hmmm, well not that "I" know of (and it doesn't mention anything about 1950 in the Charlton catalogue)

=> but it's gotta be worth at least a nickel, right?
