I was looking at this 88 LMC

and referred back to Coppercoins' prior post re MD vs Hub Doubling (DD). It is still a very valuable reference that should be bookmarked by all.

In any event, this 88 didn't look like the typical MD I see. There is no notching that I can see. Its not a DD. I'm guessing its probably Die Deterioation causing the step down effect?

Am I calling this correct? All opinions welcome.

Jim

I'm going to take this back.... it does have the shelf like appearance, so now I'm back tracking to MD. Just trying to tone my skills. Either case it goes back to the bank.

Any time you have sharp details that have secondary details like that it's going to be Machine Doubling. Die Deterioration Doubling doesn't look anything like this, really. It gives more of a ghostly appearance to the outside edge of stuff...not the razor sharp edge like this coin.

Thanks for the affirmation Chuck, that's what caused me to back track terming it MD. I'm glad I bookmarked your post mentioned above.
