Craigslist Proof Coins, Need Input On Whether To Buy

I'm not really interested in proofs, but I do need all of the State Quarter sets and he has them from 1999 to 2011 so that would be awesome. I was thinking I could keep those and sell off everything else. Is this price of $300 a bit steep or a good deal? Report this Post to the Staff

murrellington Pillar of the Community United States 3276 Posts	Posted 12/13/2011 5:41 pm I sent an email to clear up what all was included, and asked if the price was firm. here is the reply: Quote: There is a total of 155 coins in this collection breaking down as follows: 16 pennies (4 in 2009) 15 nickels (2 in 2004 and 2005) 13 dimes 66 quarters (6 in 2009) 13 half dollars 12 Sacagawea gold dollars (starting in 2000) 20 Presidential dollars (starting in 2007) I believe that there are 32 plastic pieces. 13 regular (penny, nickel, dime, half, and dollar), 13 for quarters, 5 for Presidential dollars, and 1 for the 4 penny set from 2009. jokingjoker Pillar of the Community United States 2150 Posts	Posted 12/13/2011 6:43 pm Not a great deal. I think I bought a run of SMS/proof sets 1965-2011 for around $350 on ebay. The majority of the price does come from the '99-'11 run but thats quite a few more sets for $50 more. Probably the going rate for the sets he has advertised, but not a great deal. cc99999 Pillar of the Community United States 1302 Posts	Posted 12/13/2011 7:14 pm I'd go so high as $12-15 per set for those clad sets. You will get the non-key 2001 Sac and the real key 2008 Sac. If you want it at $300 offer him $225. There's got to be a reason he's selling- ie he needs money. $225 is nice hunk of change for something he wants to get rid of. Report this Post to the Staff
