Ok, I get the whole "Canadian Coins are opposite US coins with regard to the orientation of the reverse". So, when considering a Canadian coin with the date on the side opposite of the figure (King, Queen), is the side with the date considered the Obverse or the Reverse.

Short answer: reverse.

The side with the monarch is always the obverse.

This statement refers to the die axes of the coins.US coins are coinage alignment,up down.Canadian coins, except for pre 1908 silver are medal alignment,up up.
Coinage and medal alignment were recently dicussed here.
