I always get mixed up on silver dollars from Canada. 60%? 40%? Any real scarce dates in there? Thanks.

I think because the crapware years from 1971 to 1991 are in fact only .500 silver. They weren't circulation pieces though.
All the circulation dollars till 1967 were .800 .
Giftware dollars from 1992 on are .925

SAT maybe the 60 per cent came from the fact they contain exactly 60 per cent of an ounce of real FINE silver from 1935-67

While the 1948 is the most expensive key date, there are other expensive key/semi-key dates as well: the 1945, 1947, 1947 Maple Leaf and even the 1938 and 1946. All of these have a mintage of less than 100,000.

mmmmmmmmmm silver dollars I do love collecting these and really a complete date collection from 1935-1967 is affordable and one of the few denominations that don't have a rare coin out of reach for 99% of the collectors.

Unless, of course, you collect all strikes. Some early specimen dollars are very pricey and hard to find. Same goes for varieties (1966 large beads comes to mind)

I appreciate specimen strikes far more than what they called proof strikes. They did make the effort to make them look as decent as possible and it's obvious. Expensive yes, but nothing like our US counterparts face in tracking down such limited issue coins.

Anyone have reference photos or can link to a website that illustrates the 1966 small/large beads? Is there this same variety with the 1967's? Thanks guys.
