Yep I found both but only three I would call Phili where the ultra flat bottom on the groove was so obvious even blind me couldn't mistake it for anything else. Attempts at photos elude me, I don't have anything capable of it at the moment, I'll have to set my camera back up with it's lens and stand.

Thanks for the heads up Smallcentguy & Ugly for the confirm. Who would have thunk it, first we had 3 varieties, & now we have 4.

Just wanted to revive this old thread to ask if any of these coins are Philly? Sorry for the pic quality but they're all in flips. Thanks!

To me, 1 and 3 look Ottawa and 2 looks Philly. the angles and lighting are always tricky to me. There is a good shot from a different angle on page 23 of the July 2 Canadian Coin News.

That's what I thought for 1 and 2. I just can't make up my mind about 3 though. Fortunately 1 and 2 are higher grade than 3 so I'll keep those two!

Did anything become of the Philly silver claim?

On the face of it, it doesn't make much sense since the Philly run was specifically because of the workload due to the nickel switchover. Why would they need silver from Philly?

I haven't heard of any further research since that issue of the CN Journal.
Some dealers and collectors found silver 1968 10c coins that appeared to have Philadelphia reeding. I also found examples that appeared to have a mixture of both styles of reeding on the same coin. Maybe a mint worker was filing out some of the reeding as a refurbishment?

Hi Sherwood Park Pennies! I'm on vacation for a couple weeks. It's nice to have time for some hobby stuff.
