Has anyone ever bought anything like proof sets or mint sets from this site before? I wanted to pick up a proof set in my birth year and found a great deal on this site, but before I buy it I would like to know more about how this site works. Insight is appreciated!

Um, Amazon is the single largest retailer on the Internet?

Keep in mind, though, some of their offerings are through affilliates, and you'll want to evaluate that affiliate's record before purchasing. As far as I'm concerned, though, Amazon is the Internet equivalent of Walmart - $34 Billion in sales for 2010 - and there isn't much I won't buy from them.

I bought several proof sets on Amazon. They were from individuals just like buying from ebay but the shipping is higher. If buying older cheap proof sets it might not be worth it. $5 is the minimum on most shipping.

If you or your kids are enrolled in an institution of higher learning, either full time or part time, you can get an "EDU" account with Amazon and nearly all 3 day shipping is free. We buy so much stuff through this site we are all on a first name basis with the UPS drivers. Never had a problem with these guys nor their affiliates.

To add on to the affiliate parade...I sell on Amazon as an affiliate (not coins, nor is this an advertisement for my items) and Amazon does a very good job of protecting both the seller and buyer. They will treat a sale from one of their network as one of their own branded items.

Buy with confidence!

That student discount is awesome to hear about because I am one, I'm certainly going to have to look into that! I noticed the high shipping right away and if that discount can help me that would be great. As you can tell by my lack of knowledge about Amazon, I don't do much online shopping on sites other than ebay. However from what I'm hearing it sounds like I just might have to give this one a try now.

Give 'em a shot, and keep in mind DivChaser's words. Unlike ebay, Amazon stakes their rep on their affiliates, and they won't tolerate a troll for more than a nanosecond.
