Hello all

I am new here and I hope you can give me some help to identify if my coin is small or large bead.

I am uploading a pic... hope it is good enough... if not please let me know how I should take the pic to get the best quality.

Thanks in advance

John

Looks like you have a large bead. Here's an example of a small bead.. The I in REGINA is centered on the bead

Mr. Whopper, a Large Beads '66 dollar. In mintstate, the small beads' dollar starts at $3,000.00+ and there is no known MS-65 at this point!

Yup. Looks to me that the 'I' points slightly off-centre. Too bad

thanks to all that responded....

I will have to look at each of the 66 silver dollars that I have... My dad is a big collector...

Looks like the best way would be to scan it and then draw a line with photoshop threw the "I" and see if it lines up with the bead.

Best way is just to compare the beading to the small bead 65's if you have one of those. eventually you'll get so used to seeing that rim size and spacing on the 65 it will become second nature if you ever happen to spot one on a 66.

Mules... sigh :)

Why do people think they can find a 1966 small beads $1 in circulation?

Have any EVER been found in circulation?

Seems like you have better odds playing the lottery.

It's one of those things, if you can identify it, you can make it yours. I don't really think many are just found lying around but it happens. I have found three 53/54 five cent mules just by being able to identify them over the last few decades.

I don't really care about mules personally, they are no better struck than their normal brethren. There are none in my display set.

Personal tastes and all that jazz.
