Folks,

Is this blue tint on these Morgans just toning? Or something else?

Might these have been proof coins that slipped into circulation?

I'm no toning expert, but the fact that the first one is in a ring makes me lean towards more natural toning than artificial. The sequence of colors also looks natural to me, yellow then pinkish then blue.

That being said, looking at the first one there is toning on the obverse and reverse. It is near the edges so it would be from a roll if natural. I think any toning more central to the face would become suspicious.

Past that I'm just guessing.

I don't think these are inconsistent with how natural toning propagates on well-circulated coins which are then stored.

Strictly "Blue" toning sometimes indicate contact with water and never dried.
This holds true to older Jefferson nickels, not sure if it holds true with
silver based coins like yours.
