I like to start new discussion topics. Today's is....

If you had the money, which classic U.S. coin set would you like to compete by date, mint mark, variate, you name it.

Rules: Don't say "everything" or " type set".

I'll start by saying a complete set of $10 Indian Gold 1908- 1933. I have one certified $10 Indian and it is nice. To have an entire set would be amazing.... If I had the money. I love the design and the look. I also wouldn't mind a set of Seated Liberty Silver Dollars ;)

Now it's your turn. What would you complete if you had the money?

SLQ quarter set...FH and 64+ CAC and better.

I believe a person may take most of a lifetime finding the coins, let alone buying them.

Barber dimes...that would be the single most beautiful collection to exist IMHO. Of course the 94-S is just a bonus.

A high grade type set of bust coinage.

--EDIT--

To abide by the rule of No Type Sets I'm going with a collection of US Patterns (That would get me the 1792 Disme too! I've always wanted to be able to put together a set of Gobrecht dollar patterns, and a set of minor patterns 2¢, 3¢, Half Dimes, 20¢. If money is no object then I could go up to the crazy priced stuff like the $4 Stellas and the $50 Union gold patterns of 1877.

The "Queller Collection" would have made a nice start!

As it stands, I'll be lucky to own a Gobrecht dollar Pattern at all. I almost pulled the trigger on one for $5200.00 back in 1982 should have done it judging by the prices they bring today.

This is gonna sound strange coming from me....

Lincoln Wheats, date set, all Philadelphia, all minimum MS65, all Brown.

Even stranger, I'm building it as we speak.

Yes, technically not Classic. Hold me strictly to Classics, it'll be Half Cents, complete by Newcomb variety.

I would go for the long run of Nickels starting from the 1866 with rays to 1938 D buffalo every year and mm in Au-50 or better. I would somehow have to pull off a sale for the 1913 Liberty nickel in the lowest grade of proof. Yes I would include all the over dates, over mint marked, and the 3 legged varities of buffaloes.

This is an upgrade from what I wanted to do originally as a young coin collector. Back then I would have been happy with a set like this in Good but going from 1866 Rays-present. But back then I had like 75 dates filled in from 1866-1938D buffalo and the weakest coin was like VF. Man I miss my old nickel set.

Can't decide. I'd probably finish my Walkers first though. Only 2 left to fill!
