I hope I'm not the only one who buys a coin every Christmas for my collection. Anyway, I do. This year it was a certified King James I. I love British hammered coins. How about you? Buying yourself a coin for Christmas?

Trying to fill a Large Cent Whitman Classic Album that contains 64 coins, at a coin show last Sunday I purchased several of the missing ones. This is a year only type of Album that holds 64 coins. Now down to only 15 left to finish. However, it is starting to get really expensive since even in the worst grades, many are in the hundreds of dollars. Glad it's only a year only Album. There are so many varieties of those it would take several Albums to ever get close to all of them and many thousands of dollars.

I was wanting a nice Trade dollar, but the impulse buy of the 20 Cent Piece (actually two of them, one is going back to market after the holidays) derailed that idea for now...maybe for Valentines Day.

A new set of coin catalogues for this Christmas. Posted, addressed to my wife to wrap and present to me on Christmas day. (Similar procedure for me to give her a -non coin- present.)

I'm actually kind of in buying mode this last month, because of the increase in selling activity by people looking for Christmas money causing a corresponding increase in things I think I can flip next year. You'll see some of my acquisitions scattered around the forum. No idea which of them will be sticking around, though.

I picked up a few coins to fill holes in my collection, and I also invested in a partially-filled Walking Liberty 50ยข album in an online auction last Sunday. Nothing special, though. (Maybe oih82w8's extra 20-center could end up being a "special" acquisition; I have that nagging void in my 7070 and haven't found a decent example to fill it.)

I picked up a bag of 100 BU Peace dollars the other day. That was for investment purposes and not as a gift to myself. For my Christmas gift I added a BU 1921 Peace dollar and a BU 1878-CC Morgan dollar to my shopping cart before checking out...

I'm trying to finish off my Lincoln set. I hit a flea market last week and got about 12 more hole fillers. Now all I have left are the '09-S VDB and some key dates from the teens and twenties. I also found a great 1882 Morgan in EF for $27; I couldn't pass that up. I would have gotten more, but my wife said it was enough...

I bought myself a 1823 Half Cent. It is in transit and I expect to get it tomorrow or Saturday if the mail runs that day.

I bought myself a 1798 Large Cent. It should arrive tomorrow...just in time for Christmas. It will be my first coin from the 1700's!
