I need to dump some coins to get some cash. I purchased rolls from US mint that I was thinking of breaking and dumping half of each roll. I have the last 10 years or so of halves P+D set and I have (i think) the first 4 presidents in P + D sets.

I know I overpaid, but the money is already gone. I dont want to dump all the coins, for instance, I want to keep some halves since you really cant get them in change.

I thought about ebaying some to people that might need them, but between the fees and hassle, I decided against it. Between fees, shipping etc, I would have to ask several times the face value.

Aside from just dumping them at TD bank's coin countign machines, any suggestions. I hate to see them just go into general circulation.

Thanks

Merry Christmas

hrmmm... you have 50 posts... which means you can't start a trade thread but CAN reply to a trade thread and I have a trade / thread open where I specifically stated

I also have tons and tons and tons of coins in mint cello's from the 70's and 80's...

After looking through what I already have I probably have more than half of the issues from the 60's through the 90's in cellos...

I'm also going to be adding a want list for Kennedy halves.

I'll let you connect the dots from there. (Don't know if we can reach an agreement or not but might be worth a shot.)

Hello - I am new to the site, and not sure if I am breaking any rules, but I would be happy to set up a swap.

I don't really have anything to trade though, but I do like the half dollar coins

If you have US Mint issued rolls, you can sell them by the roll on ebay for a premium over face.

It looks like the halves are going for $20-30 a roll ($10 face). The Presidential dollars are going for around $30-40 ($25 face).

i want to keep some of the coins, thus I am not interested in selling the whole roll. I already cashed in half of the pres dollars, and the State Quarters, just gotta get myself up to breaking the mint half dollar rolls. As it turns out, I dont have all 10 years but I have 8 of the prev 11 years.

I was going to sell some extra 2009 proof sets, called a local coin shop and he offered me $9.00 for approx $7 face value. I of course said no thanks.

1. You could try a coin store but you would probably get very little profit.
2. You could try to find a coin show and walk around one asking if anyone wants to buy them. Again, probably would not be worth the slight profit.
3. You need 250 posts to make deals on this forum. So if you start now, answer every post, make all kinds of post questions, stayed up for a few days, you might make that magic 250 and sell them here.
4. Take to a bank and deposit them and just eat the loss.
5. Leave intact and give to someone for a Christmas Present. Me, preferably.
6. Just hang in there for several years and try selling them later in life.

well carl, making 250 posts and waitign a few years for me are pretty much the same thing. I cant see making posts just to drive up my numbers. posts should be worth reading.

Its a shame that rule applies to situations like this. I's be willing to sell them at face value plus shipping. its the same $$ value to me as dumping them at the coin counting machine but at least Id be helping fellow collectors.

For now, I'm sitting on them for now although I do know one person who I can trade with. Jusr a matter of the heartbreak of breakign the rolls open.

Some one mentioned that I am allowed to respond to a trade post, if thats the case, id be willign to trade halves for whatever. Am I allowedf to do that, assumign they have 250.

Rules rules rules, gotta love them. I know all too much about rules, I do taxes. You wanna talk about rules? lets discuss the IRS.

by the way.....

I definitely appreciate the honesty.

While you are probably a trustworthy person, history has taught us that is not always the case. Giving both time and participation is the only way to build confidence.
