Call us crazy; but, as I recall, my father and I (collecting since the 1930's) have had very, very few TPGd coins in our possession. My father may have used a
TPG service once or twice. I never have...since I started collecting in 1965.
Call us crazier: this included each key and semi-key dates and nearly every error in cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters, a few halves, and a numerous Morgans.
That said, I dont have a qualified opinion about TPG/dont
TPG...but it seems the primary impetus for grading is preservation and/or resale value.
My situation is somewhat unique to the fine folks in this forum. Ever since my grandmother would show me her collection of
, I've always been fascinated by coin collecting, but have never really taken the plunge.
I now have a scrap gold biz and often get silver coin. (BTW, this morgan did not come off a junk silver purchase). I'm struggling with how to obtain the most value for those coins.
