SuperDave - If you are looking to buy an Australian 1937 Crown, you may have more success looking at shops in Australia. The following coin stores come highly recommended and I believe that both of them will post your purchases to other countries. www.newcastlecoins.com.au http://oldcoin.com.auYou can also look on https://www.ebay.com.au as the Australian ebay site would have lots more Crowns. If the seller will not post outside of Australia, you can have them post the Crown to me and I will forward it on to you if that is any help. I am more than happy to post on to you any coins that you might purchase here in Australia. My local coin dealer could probably get in a Crown in any sort of grade that you might want. I could buy it in the specified grade and post it over to you, if that helps. Best of luck in your Crown hunting!

That's a nice Crown. Now you will have to get a 1938 to keep it company. The 1938 will cost a bit more though. They only minted one tenth as many.

I had never seen a crown in the flesh until I went to see my 4 year old neice today and she was playing with it. I couldnt beleive my eyes. I told my sister in law that it was maybe a little expensive for a 4 year olds toy. She didnt care and the 4 year old wouldn't give it up. It was a 1937. And yes they are beautiful. I might have to suck up to my neice some more.

That is a nice crown...hard to find without contact marks. If you want a nice 1938 crown I have one that will fit the bill on my website.

You'll recognize my IP in your logs, Bigfella. I'm hoping to score a deal on a '37, but for the '38 I'll likely have to involve a professional, and you're my first choice.

Well, I chose to bid on, and won, this coin. Here's hoping it's as nice in person as it seems from the pics. If it isn't, I overpaid.

In-hand. So, has His Highness seen circulation, do you think?

While my pictures aren't as good as Superdave's, this is my first purchase from Oz. What do you guys think for a grade, and what is the value at such a grade. Hopefully I didn't take a beating on this one.....

Beautiful coins. Love the crowns and larger sized coins of the world. Will just have to be content with looking as there are just too many to be able to collect. No harm in looking thought and wanting.

Looking at these pictures has inspired me to do something I haven't done for many years.
I own a safety deposit box at a bank in another town from my own. It contains various things, but, as best I can remember, it holds at least two crowns -- one from England, and I'm pretty sure one from Australia.
They were given to me back in the 1960's by a "pen pal" who lived in Dublin, Ireland.
As early as tomorrow, but certainly sometime in the next few days, I will pay that safety deposit box a visit. Then, I'll share what I found.

tights24, I am given a slight impression that yours was dipped at one stage although I am not too sure. I hope that's not the case!

Acquired my own 1937 crown recently...it came in the mail yesterday. Looking at the reverse, I'm kind of concerned that it may have been cleaned. Opinions?
