ebay item number 300637594802, ending on 24-Dec-11 22:35:42 AEDST http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t_500wt_1281for one, the price is crazy when the sets cost WAY less. second, it not is the lowest 50c issued by either the RAM or the Perth Mint. For example the RAM gold year sets of '06 and '07 only had a mintage of 300 and the 1/2oz lunar series 1 silver year of the dog proof from the Perth Mint only had a mintage of 166. have emailed same to vendor.

Well, people always think they've found the modern equivalent to the 1804 US silver dollar or 1911 Canadian George V silver dollar. It entitles them to dream, I suppose. I don't have any Aussie coins, but $50,000.00 is a lot of money and could buy a couple of really nice classic slabbed coins.

Let them dream on Steve, all that will happen is the seller wil get the listing bill from ebay without making a sale and we get to have a good laugh at them at the same time. If anyone does actually buy this we will have to find the buyer quick smart and put him back in the asylum  |

I still fail to see any difference and I have been collecting coins since the '70s as well. I wonder how much he would put as starting price if he had a 1923 ½penny, 1930 penny, 192/21 overdate 3d etc.? [Not that ebay would be a good way to sell these.] The mind boggles.  Jeff |

I had emails with this seller last week. When I pointed out these coins, in sets, still only fetch issue price ($800-850) he replied with: "I'll buy any set at $800". And to be honest, why wouldn't he? - He also had the 1c and 2c from the set listed for $50,000. In 100 years time, who knows, he might get a lucky billionaire who only took up an interest in coin collecting seven minutes before seeing his ebay post! |

Plus I think you get 50 free listings per months. Even in the old days, the maximum listing fee was $4.80, even for $1 million items. |

5 times I have started to set up to sell on ebay, 5 times I have given up within minutes thinking what is all the crap |

You can have up to 30 free listings a month but Final Value Fee (sales commission) is much higher. ebay didn't come down in the last shower. Jeff |

It makes a noob like myself wonder if anyone ever buys these outrageous "1 of a a kind" "treasures?" Maybe I should put an obscure coin up for $50k and hope for the best LOL.  Anyone else see that Morgan "Christ on the Cross" "error" for $16k or $26k (i cant remember)? I don't understand the outrageous asking prices on some of these coins...  |

Pretty reasonable price for the "rareist" 50c.  If you're going to list an item at that much you would think one would check the spelling. It happens time and time again. Generate an awareness of the coin through ebay? |

I spotted 4 x Aussie 2001 10c - all with die cracks - Asking $100 BIN or Best Offer - I offered what I thought they were worth - $6 and was declined. Sheesh! I really wanted those little beggars -  life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

True, but if there's only a fraction of 1% that anyone will bid, it's worth taking the chance of a higher fvf, rather than the sure payment of $4.80 for each listing.
