A VERY good friend of the family called me a couple of days
ago and said he was coming into town for the holidays
He arrived in town last night and showed me some coins he
bought at a pawn shop in Illinois.
Six Morgans and one .999 round at melt price
One of the Morgans had this on the back when he was looking them
over

Silver for melt price is great by itself, CC mintmark takes an already good buy to a whole new level. Congrats!

I'm hoping those aren't hairlines I'm seeing on the coin, but from what I've seen, pawn shops are notorious about having badly polished coins. polished or not though, you still can't complain!

So, did he sell you the coin

It's got very nice eye appeal, I like the patina it has.

It's great to hear buys like this are still to be had, especially from a pawn shop.

Ed,

I agree totally with you about the eye appeal, I love that look
on a coin. I think it gives the coin character.
He was thinking about selling it. But while we were sitting around
yesterday raiding through all the home made Christmas candy.
I brought up to him about how cool a story it was to be able
find a coin like that in a pawn shop. And the fact that this
coin is his first "CC" coin. And he has always wanted a coin
from Carson City. He was convinced to keep it.

Getting Morgan's for melt value is nice any day. Getting a CC Morgan for melt is a fantastic Christmas gift, even if you buy it yourself. SWEET.
