Machine Doubling has a flat shelf-like look to it, while real doubling has that "3D" effect.

The serifs are flattened and rounded. The 'doubling' looks nothing like an original mintmark. It looks flattened. I didn't really 'come to a conclusion' - I recognized it instantly. It looks nothing like a real RPM.

recognizing something based on what you see is "coming to a conclusion". I was simply wondering what you saw so I could learn. Thanks for the information from both of you. I was the one who recommended Ricardocody come over here and ask because I was wondering about this coin as well.
This is the only reason I followed up. Quick three word answers can be right but not teach someone what to look for and how to understand. Now the next time someone finds something like this they will know what they have to look for and then understand what they have without having to ask yet again for answers.
Thanks for the clarification guys!

Conclusion:a reasoned judgment or inference
fact:a thing known to be true
I think it is safe to say that Mr.Daughtrey was stating a fact not a conclusion.(31 years of experience)

One thing that you must realize on these forums is that topics such as Machine Doubling have been thoroughly talked about, not only a few times, but a whole bunch of times.

People like Chuck Daughtrey, Mike Diamond, Bob Piazza and myself try to give the best answer in as fewer words as possible. This way we can go onto the next question and not have to go into lengthy explanations every time a well known anomaly is brought up for inspection on these threads.

In this case, it is called isolated Machine Doubling, which is common on mint marks since they generally sit higher than the surrounding design elements and are more likely to be the only element hit with the retreating hammer die.

1 )I have the definition of a conclusion as the end or finish of an event or process. Does it really matter haha
2) why can a conclusion not be a fact. Words don't matter anymore, we all have our answers
I though quickly typing something like this " Machine Doubling has a flat shelf-like look to it, while real doubling has that "3D" effect." would be more helpful to someone unknowledgeable about the topic. Obviously me and the poster were unknowledgeable seeing how the topic was posted here.
Once again thanks for your info and I had no idea you guys were the RPM police of the world. I will remember that next time I find something interesting that confuses me
