That is Roman Tam and his business out in Vancouver. They also set up tables at major coin shows in Canada. They tend to deal mostly in higher end ICCS certified items. Their prices can be awfully steep, but they also carry some of the nicer coins out there...

Expect to pay Xpresspost shipping rates. Given the scarcity and value of the coins they ship, that is normal. They combine shipping for multiple purchases.

I've had all +Positive transactions with Coinmart with no complaints. They will not accept offers under 80% trends, however, they have E-bay's largest coin inventory for Canadian material and many very scarce/expensive coins. Coinmart's front persons are Dave Hunt and wife Sue, who attend most major auctions. They have several rich backers/investors, one being Roman Tam and his son Yo Tam. Yo has his own E-bay I.D. called Canadagem2010, but when you look at his Feedback for previous sales, very seldom does he sell anything over $200.00, despite having many expensive coins listed regularly? Same goes for Coinmart, someone must be losing their shirt! Glenn

Glenn...that's what happens when you try to sell at "trends" :)...
Dont they know that market price is calculated as 50% x trends? ;)

Danlos, this is why I figure they must be losing a lot of money. Dave Hunt has a lot of inventory of very expensive coins that are not selling at all. It's been years that he has possessed these pieces, since I see them all the time on the private Coinmart website and on E-bay. This makes me wonder how he can keep listing the same coins on E-bay and paying those auction fees when nothing of value is moving. He and his investors would be better off sending their lots to C & P and have them list it on their monthly icollector.com auctions or even Torex and take their losses now than lose more $$$ in the future. Much of their high end material was purchased when times were good and coin prices/trends were high, but now that the market has crashed/softened, they are trying to unload at pre-2008 trend prices! I agree.
They must be losing money.
Why don't they lower their prices and get a glimpse of 'reality'.
No Canadian coin sells at 80% of trends today (well, almost nothing).

I've been very happy with Dave and the others involved in Coinmart. He has been nothing but honest and fair with me, and I appreciate that.
How he can afford to sit on an inventory like that without much turning over, I don't know. The current market is not an easy one to sell in. Do you sell and take a loss, or try to hang for as long as it takes for the market to recover?

I buy and sell more casually, and even when I buy at 50% off trends, I have a hard time selling THAT.
Not sure how long till we get back to "trends", but the customers just aren't there.

I've been following the board here for months while I tried to remember what my password was, and one day, voila, it popped into my head LOL. So, I'm going from lurking to posting.
As far as Coinmart goes they seem like a decent company, although I have never been able to bring myself to buy anything from them due to the poor quality of the photos on their listings.
