I've researched vamworld and can't find anything like it. The 8 has a tail on it. There are other peculiarities I couldn't find anything on the 1887's. What is the indention on the neck? It does not look like after mint damage. There are some other die cracks that are shown. I am very inexperienced but learning. Share with a rookie.

Wil load more pics when I figure out how to download them.

I have seen this before and I will go thought one of my boxes to see if I can find it. The VAM is not listed by this die chip if I remember right.

Well, I just looked at every 1887-P at VAMworld and came up empty-handed.

Looks like normal-far date, and clashed on the obverse, which should help narrow it down. Cant figure why that big chip on the 8 doesn't appear, though. Russ, you get more attention over there than I do - can you call their attention to the similarity between 14C and 1F? That identical die gouge is too cute to be two different coins.

Might have figured you'd walk in here and nail it.

For VAMs that had full-face images, I was just scrolling down to look at the big pics. VAM-13's images are both EDS coins, and I never caught the crack details which show the similar 8.

See what you think, jgator44:

I just have this one dialed in. I did a die state progression study published in VamView about 4 years ago. It is just one that sticks in my mind. The small die break at the bottom left of the first 8 is a drop dead marker for the LDS of the V13. The MPD is weak at best, and gets mushed out on LDS.

Gotcha. I kinda figured that break would be a smoking gun for the right person - it's not exactly common - and the right person happened to see the thread.
