Just wondering if anyone sells or has sold on ccf? I ask because it seem very slack on the aussie side and just wondering why. And do you have to have an ebay account to sell?

Yes I know I have a few posts before I can sell, I was trying to work out if it's worth setting up an ebay or not.

Thanks for any help

i already have an ebay account for buying that I've had for many years and built up a good rep as quick payer etc.
read a few threads in different forums last night about how low rated sellers get lower prices and less bids. marketing your item in the correct manner seems to help so they said, templates to set up the pages etc ( I should say I was lost at that point ) to help promote a professional look. with luck I will have my first sale or 2 up within 10 days, just waiting on 2x2's to put the coins I'm planning to sell into.

I obviously dont have any experience selling on ccf as my post count is also way too low. ebay is the best site to ever be created..... except for those people who bid and dont pay........ oh and those that buy, receive and then return a different item than the one you sent them....... oh and I forgot about the ebay fees..... and then the paypal fees..... and then the people who purchase the wrong year and want a refund. Actually I find ebay quite frustrating but know of few alternatives. It works quite well if you're willing to persevere. I make around $100 a week, which is not much but I put most of it back into my collection, buying things I have a greater interest in.

So so,
ebay has p me off this week 2 people have stooged me as a seller.
But ebay has a huge coverage, and for the 1 annoying person out there, there are 100 good ones.
Tried ccf and sold to the us, didn't make any money on it but you make good friends.

So enworb, where do you source material to sell on ebay? Do you simply upgrade your own collection (selling the lower grade items)?

I am in the purely "buying phase" of assembling a collection at present but I can see that the day will come when I will want to sell some items.

Sorry for going off topic Ausjack.
My theory about selling on ccf is that their just arn't enough Aussies with enough posts to be able to sell and those who do will probably choose ebay because they'll get more bidders and a better return.

I keep anything with which I have any interest (mainly pre decimal copper) and if I upgrade I generally don't sell the lower grade, just put it in a lesser album. I find it hard to part with them and only sell these occasionally.

I buy a lot of different stuff from weekend markets and garage sales and have also put out flyers. Adelaide doesn't have too many auctions with coins but occasionally there is and some lots are worthwhile. A couple months back I got heaps of pre and post 46 florins from Adelaide exchange jewellers for $5 & $2.50 respectively so have made a bit by slowly selling those in groups. You can usually get spot value for silver coins on ebay so anything you pick up for less has a fairly good chance of profit.

1968 1c and 2c coins noodled from the bank are good money makers. So are some other noodled coins. 5c sets used to be great but don't sell too well now. When I started I was getting $40-50 each but it is more round $25 now (still $20 profit).

Just have to jump at opportunities really. Like Australian coin said if you can put up with the odd loser then its not too bad, there is plenty of decent people out there.

Thanks very much gang,

Your all a great help except for roo sorry mate just joking..your good value

Erkle,

I'm the same, I have a buy account and looked into the sell and got lost. But honestly I don't think I have it in me..and going off other forums and this one it's a lot of work with little reward and not really worth it unless you can make it a full time job But in saying that I wish you all the very best and hope it's a real winner for you

Enworb,

Your funny mate, you start good on ebay then it turns to most posts you see about ebay and paypal..classic And I hear you too, there's not many alternatives.

I don't have anything that good that you'd put on ebay or the like, mainly gap fillers so i'd only be after something like a spotters fee so to speak.

I just want some where that's a lot easier and the people are nicer and it's not so stressing.

Hope you have better luck with you customers this year, all the best mate

Aus coin,

Hope you have better luck to this year and even if I don't make any money it sounds like you've made some good friends so it'll still be worth it

Trout,
Mate do I hear ya, I've bought some trading cards from the US and Hawaii and the waiting's a killer..but most of the time it's well worth the wait

NOW, I just had to leave the best till last roo, roo, roo what am I to do with you maybe make a stew

Sorry for going off topic Ausjack.

And so you should be roo mate I couldn't give a rats so it's all good and I'm sorry but you seem like you can take a joke so I appologise if I've offended you in any way

My theory about selling on ccf is that their just arn't enough Aussies with enough posts to be able to sell and those who do will probably choose ebay because they'll get more bidders and a better return.

Thanks very much for you help roo, I do listen to what you say but I think when I have enough post I'll still try here even though I won't make as much I like the people and don't mind .

Thanks again all, you really are a great lot of people
