I think this is close to a MS66. What do y'all think?

Thanks for looking.

I would lean more towards 64 on this one...very nice coin, indeed.

It would need an excellent strike and strong luster to make 66.

This one doesn't appear to be a 66 in the pics.

From the photos I'd say MS64, but silver Jefferson nickels are tough to judge from a static photo. The strike is not strong enough to make a 66 grade IMO.

The 43-S has several superbly struck pieces that aren't all too rare. I hate to be an even bigger downer than the others, but I'd go all the way to MS-63. I see nothing choice about this nickel at all. The obverse is better than the reverse. Every single aspect of Monticello looks poor in this example. I also think I see some slight marks on the cheek as well as across the columns. The pics might be hurting it and I could easily be a 64, maybe even a 65....but I see no way this coin moves into "GEM" consideration with a 66.

I think it is a beautiful coin and a great reminder of the WWII struggles of the USA. Hoping you are pleased with it ... and accept our comments in the spirit by which they are offered ... you asked so we opine.

Alas I tend to agree with the replies above ... I'm thinking maybe MS64 with mushy details ... this is not a very well struck 1943-S Jefferson ... and the 'softer' war silver alloy provided for sufficient great strike examples of all 11 war silver coins.

The bag hits and (to me) distracting toning also hold it back in technical grade ...

I pulled out my PCGS MS67FS 1943-S example to help calibrate my eye ... and there is absolutely no comparison between the two.

Nice coin ... but I'm suggesting MS64.

Clearer pics of the steps, perhaps?

I have to agree with the responses, this would probably be close to a MS-64 but no where near a MS-66. Once you get MS-65 and above the grading starts to get very strict and not very many coins that were created for circulation will grade that high, especially not classics
