"Die axis" is a term used to describe die rotation. It's always expressed as a comparison of the coin's reverse rotation to the obverse, when the obverse is straight up and down. Some express it in degrees of rotation either clockwise or counterclockwise and stop at 180 degrees ("medal" orientation), and some express it strictly as clockwise rotation allowing for numbers greater than 180 degrees. Me, I'm a "clockwise-only" kinda guy.
