North of 49 Pillar of the Community Canada 617 Posts	Posted 01/02/2012 10:44 am Hi James the RCM released a 3 coin pack last year that contained all 3 poppy quarters ( 2004,2008 and 2010) it sold for around 10.00. Maybe some kind of tracking device implanted in them or something, I bet. I just think coins with color are so pretty. I have to say, you guys got our quarters beat with these. You also have our bills beat too......... ours are so boring. I dont have any Canadian bills, but I remember them being colorful and pretty. You know, I have to tell everyone on this thread that I did not post this originally in the Canada section. I did not think people in Canada could help me find them down here in New Orleans. It was moved here. I posted it in the U.S. section because I thought people close to Louisiana could suggest where to visit or how to obtain one. Never in my wildest imagination, did I think I would come across so many nice people willing to help me get one. I am usually the one that helps other people out with things. Once again, I want to thank each of you for all the information and coins that will be coming my way soon. I will gladly help anyone that needs U.S. quarters if you can not get them in your area. The silver-colored 25-cent piece features the red image of a poppy -- Canada's flower of remembrance -- inlaid over a maple leaf. The unorthodox quarter is identical to the coins pictured and described as suspicious in the contractors' accounts. The supposed nano-technology actually was a conventional protective coating the Royal Canadian Mint applied to prevent the poppy's red color from rubbing off. They weren't as plentiful as other specialty coins because they weren't found in banks but rather they were exclusive to certain chain stores. The 2004 poppy, for example, was only found at a coffee shop chain store here in Canada called Tim Hortons, the 2008 was only found at a drug store chain called Shoppers drug mart and the 2010 poppy was only found at post offices. this made them a little harder to come by then say the Olympic coins which were released through banks and seemed to be everywhere. Well only found 1 good ebay set for $3 + $2 shipping... but I was already making an order on Colonail Acres for some other coins and supplies so decided to get some rolls :) ($50 for all 3). Thanks for the info, North of 49. That seems a strange way to release the coins. I will have to add them to my want list now. If anyone has some and wants to trade for Aussie coins, let me know.
