The total scrap value of the coin at todays gold price is about $220, so you could probably expect to get around $200 if you scrap it. However, Three dollar gold pieces usually sell for a a significant premium above bullion value as they are quite rare. The 1866 is relatively low mintage (4,000) and retails for about $1000 in Very Fine condition. So considering that its damaged (and assuming that it is otherwise in Very Fine condition), you might be able to get $250-$350 if you were to sell it to a coin dealer. If you were to sell it on ebay you might be able to get around $450-$600.
